OUR
STORY
America's premier conservative youth organization since 1960
ABOUT TARS
National Teen Age Republicans (TARs) is America's premier conservative organization for teenagers aged 14 to 17. Since 1960, we have been developing the next generation of conservative leaders across the nation.
TARs has had a presence in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia, with membership in the tens of thousands. We are the leading organization dedicated to training and empowering young conservatives to become tomorrow's political and civic leaders.
TIMELINE
The Beginning
The oldest recorded Teen Age Republican group was formed in South Dakota, marking the beginning of what would become a nationwide conservative youth movement.
First National Conference
The first national conference was held in Washington D.C. at Trinity College on June 16–21, establishing the annual Teen Age Republican Leader Conference (TLC) tradition that continues today.
Presidential Recognition
Following his 1980 election victory, President Ronald Reagan held a reception for TLC delegates, stating that TARs 'had a significant impact in the outcome of the last election' through grassroots activities.
New Leadership Era
Under the leadership of National Chairman Arjun Sharda (replacing Barby Wells), Teen Age Republicans continues to recruit, train, and elect the next generation of conservative leaders across America.
MISSION & VISION
MISSION
The Teen Age Republicans are fighting for the future of the Republican Party. Together, our mission is to recruit new Teen Age Republicans and engage young voters with the Republican Party, train the future leaders of the United States, and elect Republican candidates from the top to the bottom of the ballot across the country.
VISION
Our vision is to empower young conservatives to recruit, train, and elect leaders, forging a united and prosperous America. Since its creation, TARs has established itself as the premier Republican youth organization, providing essential grassroots support for Republican candidates and conservative issues.
PRESIDENTIAL RECOGNITION
"Teen Age Republicans had a significant impact in the outcome of the last election... you walked the precincts, you licked stamps, stuffed envelopes, got senior citizens to the polls, and babysat while mothers voted... what you did [made] the difference between winning and losing."
White House Reception for TLC Delegates, June 23, 1981
